Title - Are We Animals?

Challenges - 116 shots, 9 Characters, 7 Large Sets

I was the Modeling and Texturing Lead and took forward the approach for articulation for each character, keeping in mind the rigging stage.

I contributed in the Pre-Shading and Rendering stages.

For the below image, It was very important to maintain the style of the sketch.

For each of the character, My goal is to bring them to life from the modeling stage and capture the essence of their personality.

Software - Modeling - Autodesk Maya
                         - Texturing - Autodesk Mudbox

Are We Animals? from Arnov Chaudhury on Vimeo.

Below, The slide explains the process for sculpting and texturing after doing my share of research.
For the, Sculpting and Texturing I used Mudbox.

For the slide below, The Lama was the journalist and has a strong sense of personality.

For the texturing, I used the colors that brought out the most vibrance as I felt his character              needed to be unique. The face of the lama was the hardest to maintain as it was the most defining feature along with the strong body gesture.

The Rhinos being the serious one, I modeled them with a semi - expression to set a tone for their expressions further.

SETS

Each Slide below are explaining the process of my approach for my Texturing and Modeling.
I had to test the textures after the Pre-Lighting stage, to confirm the reaction of the colors with the lighting.

With all the challenges kept in mind, I still had fun in taking the texturing and modeling to the level needed within the time frame.

With each set, I had to go through alot of Research and Development to finalise the sets.

For all sets, The greatest challenge was that in each set, the set was seen from each angle.
May it be top, left, Bottom, Close ups.

I had to maintain the same amount of detail from shot to shot.

The goal for me in the set was to make a difference between the Foreground and Background.
I kept the foreground more colorful and saturated while I used alot of de-saturated tones of colors for the the factory side.

This slide at the bottom, Is an overview shot of the Zoo and The goal was to make it look              pleasant to look at and still like a display for the audience, Somewhat like a real zoo but adapted to our script.

Bottom slide, Is a shot from the jail, and to show the darkness of the walls of the jail itself.
To maintain a crooked textures along with the modeling.

Although, Ours was an animated mini - feature film,
The interior factory sequence was a challenge on its own.

To maintain the industrial shapes, Layouts and pointy structures
that are usually present in factory.

And, for the texturing I had to be careful to not go too far in
terms of textures to keep it believable and close to reality.

To end this presentation for my graduation film, This project gave me a strong insight                into my skills and how to deal with production conditions and still maintain quality.

I learnt most importantly, how to work smart and efficiently within the time frame.
